I want to mount a Garmin GNX 21 display at the mast, below the boom and the vang (mine is solid). Likely I will have to get a mount machined or constructed by a friend. Has anyone done this? Or have any bright ideas? I am wiring from the GPS below deck so I can get that detail in front of me and not where the crew seems to be all the time!

I found a bracket on the boat when I got her that looks to screw in below the boom but it is too small for the Garmin. (Figures)

Thanks for any bright ideas!

Maybe the Garmin has a see through case that you could screw onto a mast slug. js

Kydex is your friend.  Take a look at my SA post.

What a great looking bracket!! Looks just like the Garmin one that costs $$$$$.

Once the mast gets vertical I will get together with the elves that can handle such projects. The metal bracket that doesn't fit the Garmin instrument was made to bolt into the sail track. The custom one made for my old J27 was made to slide into the track. All great ideas by smarter people than me!

Thank you!

Here's how I have mine setup. This is a custom made bracket, not expensive to have made if you can draw the bracket yourself, this one cost about $60.

I drilled and tapped holes in the bolt rope groove in the mast and use 2 fasteners.
