Hi all

Would anyone know what would be the phrf rating if one boat wanted to race with the lapper instead of the number 1 ?

Andre,

West florida PHRF has added as much as 9-sec/mile for this.  But it really depends on your fleet.  We sail in alot of light winds here where sailing with lapper only would make a bigger difference.  If you sail where its windy much of the time you probably won't get as much of a break.  Also, the 9-sec/mile was for a j-105 i think.  I'm the only laser in WFPHRF and i really don't know what they would do here.

In S.F.Bay PHRF we only get a 3 sec allowance for going to less than a 125% jib. We sailed four race over the weekend in the Stone Cup and never even brought out the genoa. In the winter we don't use the lapper very much unless there is a storm to sail in and then it not much fun, too cold and wet.

Salut André,

Under PHRF-LO, which is the system that currently applies to you, you would get a rating adjustment of +6. This is equivalent to 36 seconds per hour of racing (to your advantage of course).
