Today I noticed that the narrow shelf-like portion of the hull grid above the table where the tie rod to the shrouds attaches is pulling away from the hull.  There is about a half inch gap that appears to be centered where the rod comes down and a small crack below that.  The vertical portions of the grid seem to still be ok.  Looking at some old posts, it looks like the repair involves slacking the rig, cutting off the flange and re-glassing it to the hull.  Is there anything I should know or consider going into this?  Can it be done with the boat in the water?

Thank you,
Vance
