I am in the process of buying a Laser 28 on Chesapeake bay that took the diesel engine off. Has anyone put a Yanmar 9ph diesel in with a straight shaft and strut? This boat has the drive leg with the ring and diapram ,rubber faring ring and the Gori prop which is a 11.5" diam.  Does anyone have a rebuilt Bukh diesel that would fit? The old engine was removed and stored. The place that was storing the engine was sold and sold the engine for scrape before the absent owner could get back from his trip. Also this boat appears to have all Forespar plastic sea cocks. Was this standard on the Laser 28? This boat raced as a MORC class and had a short hoist main and a upper diamond that has a control line that comes down the face of the mast to control top bend. Is the diamond a good thing to keep or get rid of?
