I learned the hard way last year that the temperature alarm attached to the post on the aft portion of the engine does not go off until the engine has already overheated (at least on my boat).  In my mind, it is not of much use at all.

Wanting to avoid a repeat of above, I've been reading about exhaust temperature alarms, such as the one found at:  http://www.trickettmarineproducts.co.uk/exhaustalarm.html

I'm wondering if anyone has installed such a device on the exhaust system of the L28 and what their experience has been?

Also, any advice on what temperature the sensor should ideally be set off at?  You want it high enough to not give false alarms but not so high that damage has occurred by the time it is triggered.

Thanks.
