Hi,
The thru hull for my anchor drain is just hand molded out of fiber glass. The fiberglass did not lay very tight in this area and there is bubbling and delamination around the thru hull area.
When she is at rest, there is no leak, but when we are racing, water is apparently driving into the thru hull and the porous fiberglass molding is leaking. I tried shmearing 5200 all over it but that did not stop the leak.
I'm thinking of cutting the molding off smooth to the hull on the inside of the bow, reglassing the area flat, and then installing a more conventional thru hull.
Does that sound like a good approach? any suggestions on what type the new fitting would be ?
thx, john
