When I shut off the engine the buzzer doesn't sound. Is there any reason I need it to work. Also, any ideas what the problem might be?

Is it possible and if so what's the best way to fair the sail drive gasket to the bottom?

Thanks,
Ed

The buzzer is supposed to let you know there is no oil pressure.   Engine works fine witout the buzzer but you'll have no way to know if the oil pressure drops and if it does, the engine will be ruined.

actually buzzer (on engine control panel) can be for low oil pressure and or high engine temp and or leaking rubber hull membrane..... most boats have had this system not work for many yrs now.... check fluids regularly, observe lights on eng panel for confirmation
