hi guys, Napadelis and i are moving to Toronto this winter. when i lived there in the early 90's, there was a good one-design fleet there. i know it became extinct because of some dumb reasons; but, i know a lot of the boats are still there. where do u guys now sail out of and do u think there's any chance of us getting together on a couple of weekends to do some one-design racing? i still have to find a club to call home but i'm anxious to get back to sailing on Lake Ontario. |

Welcome to Toronto Bob! It will be great to join you in the local fleet. As you probably know, Dave Black (Jet) is local fleet captain. He races one design and has been the regular pilgrim travelling to CORK. He should have a good pulse on who is where. My boat, Impact, was on Lake Michigan until this spring. We race out of RCYC in Toronto harbour and we also race at many offshore and weekend regattas in western Lake Ontario (LORC, Youngstown Levels, LORC Offshore Series). We hope to travel to CORK next summer as well. There is another L28 at RCYC: Taz owned by Paul Dennis. The most active local boat is Rags (Frank & Judy Button, Mimico). They seem to race all of the LORC regattas and have 15+ years experience in L28. Great source of boat/fleet knowledge. Some of the boats I have seen racing locally: Rascal (Dan Walton, Bluffer's Park), Plum Danish (Frank Hudson, ABYC) There are clearly more out there! I would be happy to introduce you to our club, Doug |
