I'm hoping to start doing some fleet racing with my L28 sometime in the next year. Here in Thunder Bay it's a mixed fleet and I'm the only L28 in town, so we race PHRF. Thunder Bay Yacht Club follows Lake Michigan PHRF ratings as a general rule.
I found the following link: http://www.lmphrf.org/Look_Up_a_Handicap/look_up_a_handicap.html which notes a PHRF of 126 which appears to be at the low end of the range I've seen online (I'd like to know how Frank managed a PHRF close to 150!) Assuming for the moment that I need to use this 126 as a starting point, how do I go about asking for a re-rating if I don't use a genoa? The overall consensus in another thread in this forum seems to be that it's preferred to stick with the lapper except on a reach. Chris Edited by Winner - 06 July 2012 at 1:32am |

Laser28's are rated 123 in Montreal. Call your local handicapper and tell him your largest jib is the Lapper and your rating will be adjusted.
