Well if's official, the water in the oil resulted from a cracked head. A new head will cost about $2300 plus all the other parts. So I am figuring $3000. ANd that's assuming the Pistons Rings are still good, (another $278). So this is a good time as any to consider replacing the engine versus a rebuild.
So here are the questions; what did you replace yours with, any modications to make it fit, about how much and where did you purchase from? Thanks Seawolf

Most cracks are repairable.... where is the crack? I guess it wasn't winterized properly

Really? It's worth a shot. The crack is horizontal between the intake
and exhaust valve that is what is observable from the end of the value covering
looking past the rocker arms and spring. I will have to ask the shop where else
they are seeing the crack. Some observations to share, I have a bill
from the previous owners’ marina which did the winterizing. I also observe that
when I took the temperature housing off earlier this spring, I noticed that it
was bone dry in the cylinder head however I did find antifreeze in the muffler
can. Mark |

There are shops that specialize in repairing cracked castings such as this one below. They did a cracked head no one else would touch and its still running fine after 13 yrs
This place is in Toronto Canada but they do excellent work. See if you can find a place closer to you.

Mark, very sorry to hear that the head is cracked. I do encourage you to see if you can get it fixed.
