Has anyone got a good idea about how to clean soft lockers? Black mildew stains are the problem. Also the wax coating clogs up the washing machine.

When I bought my boat 3 years ago, the soft lockers were so mildewd, I though they were gone. I washed them 3 or 4 times with bleach in the washing machine and they came out great. Still look great.

Addendum. I tried the bleach (hypochlorite) on a test strip (one of the detachable pouches which was quite mildewed). It did a good job of removing the mildew but of course the color is subtly different now. I have read a bit about bleaching on internet and it appears one should look for so-called color fast bleach which uses oxygen. Apparently this can be boosted by adding some hydogen peroxide as well. More later...............

Washed mine with Tide and a little bleach in a LARGE commercial washing machine. Worked pretty well. Gotta love the laundromat for jobs like this.

I just had new softlockers made by Harken Canvas in Pewaukee, WI. They are not the original color but are nicely made for $850US. For this they made all of the hanging pieces and customized the pockets to eliminate the velcro bags near the galley, added some more pockets.

Bleach works- even better, use THE SUN. Put the out flat on a sunny day. I did this and you can barely see the stains.

Sent mine to dry cleaners then dyed them darker to help hide the stains . Worked pretty well . You can still see some stains if you know where to look but not noticeable at all .
