What type of cleat have you found to be easy and effective on the mast for the topping lift to be secured? The one I have must go and I am curious what others are using. Thanks! :)bill

My boat came with a mini harken cam cleat on the mast for the topping lift but last year we ran the line out the mast base and back to the cockpit. Pole down (foreguy) comes back right next to it so a crew can work the pole up/down from the cockpit. Seems to work best for us.

We use the Harken Cam Cleat, but I don't think it is a mini, though it could be. It is the one that was on the boat when I purchased it and sits on a small block to fit the mast. On all other boats I have owned we have had both the topping lift and down-haul led aft, however I don't find any real disadvantage of having it on the mast. There are pros and cons, but we are happy to leave it there for now.
I think the mini Harken set-up is fine. |

+1 for Harken cam cleat on alloy mast block. Ours is faired in with epoxy filler.
