A hairline crack has developed at my hull-keel joint. So, I'm going to tighten the keel bolts while the boat is in the water. My plan is to (one at a time) loosen a bolt - grease the threads, then retighten the bolt.

Does anybody know what the proper torque is for the keel bolts? Anything I should watch out for?

A loaded question.. but it's better done on land. You could at least temporarily ground the boat in a nice calm spot? Obviously, to unweight the keel so you don't stretch the threads.

I torque my big nuts with all I have on a 24" cheater bar extending an 18" 1/2" drive socket breaker bar. I use just the socket breaker bar on the smaller ones. I think there is no problem doing these in the water. This keel does not weigh very much. As long as you do them one at a time.
