My boat came with a full set of harnesses and tethers but I can't tell how the previous owners actually clipped in. I'd like to rig jacklines. Can someone who's done this tell me how they should be rigged? Should I run them from from the bow cleats back (to where?) or do I want to install padeyes for them?

We've just rigged jackstays to Farr Out. They're 25mm webbing 5.75m long. We used wide shackles to fix to the fairlead either side on the bow and then ran behind the stantion so as to not foul the anchor well. Then outside the shrouds.
I used Wichard fold down padeyes aft with a 10mm ply backer about 70 x 70 mm. These are on the middle of the side deck just forward of the genoa sheet turning blocks. Idea is that you can clip on from the cockpit and go forward but you don't get knocked over the transom by a green'un. There's enough slack on them to slide a Gibb clip up and so that they won't drum on the deck. The webbing is lashed to the Wichard padeye. |
