Hi,

My current prop is loose on the shaft, very slopy fit. Not sure if worn or wrong size prop.  Can anyone tell me the corect prop size DIA pitch and rotation left or right? and bore and key

Hello Dane,

I just replaced my prop a couple weeks ago.  To the best of my knowledge there is only one supplier for this prop and that is Gori.  My boat was the first production hull and I believe it had the original prop when I bought the boat last year.  I replaced my prop because the hub started to slip on the shaft.  This original prop design had a metal sleeve which fits over the spline on the saildrive shaft.  This sleeve is bonded to and surrounded by rubber which is bonded to the outer hub which holds the blades.  This rubber sleeve transfers the torque of the engine to the out hub and dampens any vibration.  On my boat this rubber had deteriorated to the point where the outer hub was slipping and would not propel the boat.  I believe this condition had existed for some time since last year I could only go about 4.5 knots at full throttle.

If your prop is slipping because of the rubber deterioration you have two options.  One, buy a new prop of the new design which does not have (as best I can tell) the rubber liner.  That is what I did and it works great.  Go directly to Gori (A B Marine, Ph:401-847-7960 in the U.S.) to purchase it for the best price...about $800.  Option 2 (also through A B Marine) is to send your old prop in to have the rubber reworked.  I believe that option is $400 to $500 (about three weeks turn around).  For the difference in price I would suggest the newer design as I believe it will last longer.  The new prop looks so nice you will want to put it on your coffee table instead of the boat.  Note, the new prop has the same double set screw arrangement to lock the pins holding the blades on the hub.  They give you a Lock Tight type of liquid to hold the screws in place.  Use it very sparingly as it really holds.   Less than one drop on the outer set screw should be plenty.  Hope this helps.
