Your original L28 came equipped with a Cunningham luff adjustment which consists of a hook and attached line which is passed through a block at the base of the mast through the deck organiser on the port side of the cabin back to the stoppers. In order to take in the reef you put the hook in the reef point nearest the mast, lower the head of the sail and tension the cunningham to get the desired amount of luff tension. Hope this helps. If not I can email you a copy of bad diagram in the manual.

This is my second season sailing a Laser 28, and recently, I was sailing a distance race. During the start winds were holding at 35 knots and gusting. So we were going to reef the main (something I have never done on this boat).
To our surprise, there was no visible hook, etc. to attach the reef at the tack of the sail. Am I missing something? Or is there a way to reef the main with out such a hook? Thanks, Scott |
